YA'AT '
EEH ! WOW !! What a great day we had today. We have had a wonderful time teaching the
Begays ( refer to log blog ). They have been eager to learn and asked a lot of questions. What a joy. Last week while we were teaching them they asked about having to give up coffee and their Navajo traditions and
ceremonies (her sister has been talking to her again). So we taught her the Word of Wisdom and she seemed to accept that pretty well. We really don't know enough about the Navajo traditions and ceremonies to know what she would have to give up. I just told her that the Church encourages cultural diversity but anything that prevents you from worshiping God would need to be given up. I told her of the cultural events the Church holds at all temple dedications. We promised to bring the Bishop to visit them and explain the Church and the Navajo traditions. Today we went to see them again and gave the lesson on tithing and fast offerings. We also talked about other Church programs such as Welfare, Humanitarian, Missionary work, and the basic Church organization. Tonight we took the Bishop with us. HE talked to them for over an hour, in Navajo, about the Church and how they felt about it. They are thinking about baptism. Brother Begay is very quiet. He hardly says a thing when we're there. But he thanks us warmly for coming to teach them. Tonight he was quite talkative. He told Bishop Yellowhair that when we prayed for them he saw the outstretched hands of the Savior with the nail prints in His palms. That's when he knew that what we were telling him was true. We will go back to teach them more. The Bishop wants to go with us when he can. What a natural high !!!!!!!!!!
