Super Saturday

This was one super Saturday! We started out teaching this real neat lady and her brother. She was excited about what we had to teach her. She asked questions and seemed eager to learn. She invited us back Wednesday to teach her some more. What an uplifting experience! Then we went with Elder Cox and Elder Eaton to visit some less active people who live on the way to Pinon. At Cottonwood we went to follow up on a referral and met a nice family- dad, mom, and two kids. They live in this real cool place (see pictures). Sylverus kept saying he wishes he had lived in a place like that when he was young so he could play "cowboys and indians". Then we went to the baptism of a beautiful young mother and her two boys. Her husband is already a member from way back and decided he wanted to become active again. Then we went over to the high school where they were having a pow wow (see picture and video). Nolan James invited to come. He is a Hopi Indian and a counselor in the Pinon Branch Presidency. ( I'll upload a picture.) It was a day to remember! HA'COO'NEE

Grandpa's new girl friends

I just had to send this picture. We are teaching the missionary lessons to one mother. The other mother is a member and we are her home teachers. We were up there this morning (up past Spider Rock) about 17 miles up on the south rim. They came down this afternoon to get water at our place. Grandpa had to play with the girls, playing hide and seek around the pickups. They all had fun while the water barrels got filled. I took this picture but did't notice that the one little girl found the mud- you know how kids are. They are just so cute- she acts just like Kailey. LOVE YA'LL HA'COO'NEE

Holidays

Ya'at'eeh, keshmish,
Christmas is here and gone. We had a great day. Thanks, everyone for the goodies, books and pictures. They were great. We had dinner with the other missionaries. It was a typical Relief Society feast. It's great to belong to a church where almost everyone is a good cook. The work has been a little slow during the holidays. Everybody is too busy to stop and listen. They are gone, on their way somewhere or they are expecting company. Maybe this week will be better. New Years Eve all the senior missionaries got together to play cards and eat snacks. We had to teach them how to play "May I". On New Years Day we were invited to dinner with the Felix and Jennifer Buckinghorse family. They have three children- Fritz 8, Alicia Mae 7, and Felicia 6. Felix and Fritz were baptized soon after we arrived. They are a great family and are looking forward to going to the temple. We have a personal goal to see that it happens. We have been having so much "FUN" driving on these roads that we started looking for a ticket booth to charge us to get in. When we got home it was 50 degrees so Sylverus decided to wash the pickup- anyone have a chisel. We now know why they can make pottery- I might take up a new hobby with all the free "clay" around here. Two days later it is cold and snowing. HAPPY NEW YEAR .
