Less than a week!

I don't think we will be holding District Meeting outside today. It seems just a tad wet and cold. Just 10" of snow overnight. We might hibernate for a day or two. Well, they just canceled District Meeting. That is too far to travel in this kind of weather. Hope you're all having a good winter. Thanks for all the birthday wishes. I'm still baking lots of cookies and giving them away to all the little kids where we go to teach. Now we have a request to come with the missionaries when they teach these investigators and bring cookies! LOVE YA"LL

District Meeting 2/4/2009

YA' AT ' EEH The church was locked so we had District Meeting around the ash pile. (Notice the fabulous podium and coordinating furnishings). Elder Kavanaugh is the District Leader. Elder Schreyer is his companion in Pinon. Elder Gray and Elder Faires and Elder and Sister Hattaway are from Many Farms. We represented Chinle. We really had a lot of fun and a good meeting. Then we all went to Pizza Edge for a free lunch (owned by a good church member). Eat your heart out- it was 65 degrees here. How deep is the snow back there? HA' COO' NEE

The lost planet

These are the Anasazi ruins West of Many Farms. I find them fascinating. They built on ridges high above the floor of the canyon. (Yes, the floor of the canyon is gray and the hills are red- go figure that one out?). How did they get food and water up there? They always built where they would get winter sun and would be shaded in the summer. The walls of the buildings are flat rocks mortared with mud (which around here would hold anything together). The whole in the wall is typical of formations around here. It's on the backside of the ruins. The horses are the "spirited wild horses of the noble savage running free across the prarie". That's tongue-in-cheek folks! HA' COO' NEE

Lost planet revisited

The sister missionaries, Sister Hunsicker and Sister Turner, invited us to spend the day with them touring the area. They wanted to see the white limestone rocks we found and they wanted to show us some Anasazi ruins they knew about (see next group of pictures). One formation we found interesting was the "sea bird" sitting on the cliff. We also found a charmming tropical vacation bunglow for you in case you want to visit.

Long time no blog or Log Blog

We chopped and hauled wood for our investigators. They said nobody had ever done anything like that for them before. We spent two hours hauling wood through the mud and snow. Elder Cox and Elder Eaton did all the chopping. Some of those logs were pretty tough- twisted and knotty cedar. We had a good time. Then we taught them a lesson- Plan of Salvation. They are a great couple- Lena and Johnson Begay. Neither of them have had much education but they are eager to learn about Jesus Christ.
