Baptism 11-28-09

We had a baptism today. These are great kids- Tracy 17, and Miguel 11 (cousins). Miguel's mother is in the white shirt and he is holding his little sister. Tracy is in the purple dress and her friend is in the green dress. The rest are family that came from Utah for the baptism. They are members and a good influence on Tracy and Miguel.

Baby Rock

This is a place called Baby Rock. It is on the way to Dennehotso, East of Kayenta. I like to find people, animals, chess pieces, works of art, etc. among the rocks. See what you come up with.

Do you see a bird perched on top of a rock? Or Venus, 12 Apostles, the Knights of the round table, dwarfs....?

Gandolf, Dr. Suess characters, or Medieval sculptures...?

Can you find an old Chinese version of the "Thinker"?

We pass by here 2-3 times a week. It is fun to look at. It stretches about a quarter mile along the cliff face.

Misc. Fall on the Rez.

We traveled to Mexican Water in search of members. Mostly a long expanse of nothing, and a geologists delight. The cafe in Mexican Water is quite good however if you ever find yourself traveling that way. The Tuba City Stake is trying to get people around here to plant gardens. To show them how it's done they dug up our back yard. They add a lot of sawdust and other humus to the soil along with fertilizer. Then they fence the whole thing to keep the animals out. A drip water system is installed to decrease the amount of water needed. All this will be supplied by the church if someone will do the work of caring for the garden. The church would like to see the people here a little more self-sufficient . The last picture is a trail ride on Veteran's Day- the Navajo are very patriotic.
